ALDINGA BEACH PRIMARY SCHOOL

a

MALPA Program

‘Malpa’ is a Pintupi/Warlpiri/Luritja word meaning “friends on the journey”.

The Young Doctors for Life program, created by Malpa, is a unique and culturally grounded initiative that empowers Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal children (aged 9–12) to take control of their health and well-being. Through this grassroots approach, students are encouraged to make positive choices, share knowledge, and help shape the future health of their families and communities.

At Aldinga Beach Primary School, students in Years 5 and 6 have the opportunity to take part in this extensive 15-week program. Each week, students work with our Aboriginal Community Education Officer and guest facilitators, exploring a wide range of activities that focus on:

    • Making strong health and lifestyle choices
    • Building confidence and leadership
    • Strengthening cultural understanding and connection to community

This program has been running at our school for many years and is highly valued by our community. It honours local knowledge and traditions while inspiring students to become leaders in health and well-being — both now and into the future.
