Culture Hub
Naa Marni – Welcome
At Aldinga Beach Primary School, we acknowledge that we learn and grow together on Kaurna land.
We are proud to honour the deep connections between people, culture, and Country, and we share this pride with our whole school community.
Our Culture Hub is at the heart of this work. It is a dedicated space where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students connect with culture, identity and learning.
Guided by our Aboriginal Community Education Officer (ACEO), students explore a wide range of cultural knowledge and practices including:
-
- Storytelling and painting through art
- Weaving and craft traditions
- Dreaming stories and cultural histories
- Language groups and language revival
- Wellbeing, medicine, and innovation
Students also participate in significant cultural events and programs such as Reconciliation Week, Nunga Tag, MALPA – Young Doctors, and the Aboriginal STEM Congress,
which strengthen identity, belonging, and leadership.
Supporting Learning and Success
With student success as our focus, our Aboriginal Education Teacher works closely with learners to provide tailored literacy and numeracy support,
as well as extension opportunities for those ready to take their learning further. This ensures that every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student is supported to achieve and thrive.
A Space for Everyone
Located in the Pirlta Unit (RD07), the Culture Room is open at lunchtimes for all students who would like to join.
Classes can also book sessions to explore Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and perspectives together.
This creates opportunities for all students to deepen their understanding of Australia’s shared history and to build respect, connection and pride.
We invite you to come in, have a yarn, and experience the Culture Room.
It is a place for learning, belonging and celebrating the oldest living culture in the world.
